KONY 2012
Invisible Children, one of Project 7's Hope for Peace partners, uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony's rebel war and restore LRA-affected communities in Central Africa to peace and prosperity. Last evening we had the privilege of screening Invisible Children's new 26 minute film, KONY 2012, at our Costa Mesa offices.
The Pacific West 'Roadies' showed up around 4 PM to get everything situated. And by 5, we were enjoying snacks, getting acquainted, and settling in to learn more about Invisible Children, Joseph Kony's atrocities, and the movement to raise visibility of this war criminal so that he is brought to justice.
KONY 2012 is Invisible Children's campaign to ensure that these 2 things happen:
1. That Joseph Kony is known as the World’s Worst War Criminal. That by making Joseph Kony famous, not celebrating him, we might raise support for his arrest and set a precedent for international justice.
2. That the U.S. military advisers support the Ugandan Army until Kony has been captured and the LRA has been completely disarmed. They need to follow through all the way and finish what they have started.
The film is absolutely incredible. You need to see {and share} it. Here's how:
1. Watch the online world premiere on Monday, March 5 at 12 PM PST at http://www.kony2012.com/.
2. Go to http://www.kony2012.com and share with culture-makers and policy-makers.
3. Paper the streets with #KONY2012 posters, stickers and banners. Get the goods at http://www.kony2012.com/.
4. Show up at an event. A complete listing at http://www.kony2012.com/konyevents/.
And...we thought we'd share a few snapshots from our event.
