Atila the Incredible Intern

Tell us a little bit about yourself. Where are you from? Where did you go to school?

I was born in Turkey, but my parents are originally from Iran and I lived most of my life there. When I was 14, I moved to Germany and two years later I moved to Lancaster, CA, where I went to high school. When it was time to go to college, my parents packed up and moved to Portland, OR.  But I decided to stay in SoCal, studied at Biola University and graduated with a Marketing degree last May.

What led you to apply for an internship at Project 7?

I originally learned about P7 at !deation Conference in Spring of 2011. I immediately fell in love with the organization and wanted to join the team. But at the time, the P7 office was located in Texas and I was not willing to move.

A few months ago, through Facebook, I found out that Project 7 had moved to Costa Mesa. At the same time, I found out about the internship opportunity and I applied.

What has been the best thing about your internship so far?

Being with Project 7 is incredibly rewarding, because we are constantly reminded of why we do what we are doing. There is such a great impact behind everyone’s hard work, and because of that every team member is incredibly passionate and focused on the mission. The best thing about the internship has been knowing that here our work is not in vain.

If you could be anywhere in five years, wherewould you want to be and what would you be doing?

I was blessed to have people in my life that taught me the importance of following my passion, and I have found that passion here. I love business and I love serving. Project 7 is the perfect combination of those two. A lot can change in five years, but Icertainly hope that I will continue to be with Project 7.

What is the craziest job you've ever had?

Don’t let this give you the wrong impression, but during the first semester of college I was a paparazzo. I chased celebrities and it was quite thrilling.

Is there one of Project 7's 7 causes that stands out to you more than the others? Why?

I love eating and I eat a lot. At the same time we have children in our communities that go to bed hungry. Feed the Hungry definitely stands out to me.

What is your favorite Project 7 product?

I love our shirts. They are just so soft. I also love Feed the Hungry gum. If I drank coffee, I would definitely pick the coffee. I can’t tell the difference between one coffee than another, but I hear our coffee blow the competitors’ coffee out of the water.

Stay tuned for more details on how you, or someone you know, might become Project 7's next incredible intern!
