Are you an Eco-hero or Greendoer?

Millions of people play social games everyday. In fact, you are more than likely one of them. But, what would happen if social games did good? Meet Eco-Heroes. This social media game is pretty much like Foursquare married Planet Green. Finally, there is a way to tell "Who's the greenest of them all?" So here's the story: Why it was created After visiting the 2009 Copenhagen Conference, Eco-Heroes' creator Roz Savage decided that if we got ourselves into this ecological mess, we could get ourselves out. Her assumption was as follows, "We haven't created this mess through a few big disasters. It has been more an accumulation of billions of tiny actions, the kind of actions we all do every day. And that is the way we are going to get ourselves out of the mess - by doing at least one good Green Deed every day, consistently over time. Each and every one of us can make a difference." - Roz Savage And, Eco-Heroes was born. How does playing make a difference in the world? It's simple, log at least one Green Deed every day. For each deed you’ll get points, and as you move up the points scale you’ll be awarded medals. Do more than one Green Deed a day, and win more points! Each week, the top Greendoers will receive a special prize, donated by Eco-Heroes' sponsors SonyEricsson, who are giving away their eco-friendly Green Heart mobile phones, and DaKine, who have donated laptop bags made using their new Re-Gen bag technology! Green Deeds can be a wide range of things. Eco-Heroes calls out the following: pick up trash from your neighborhood while you’re out walking, join an eco organization, write a letter to your newspaper or elected representative, start growing your own veg, start composting, etc. But, be careful, the community can "vote" on your deed - thumbs up means you did a great job, thumbs down means your Green Deed needs to go greener. So, check out the game and start playing. Become a "greendoer" and maybe, if you work really hard, a true Eco-Hero!

I’m for one am not following someone who doesn’t live by their own words. Right now she’s staying in the most luxurious resort on PNG using “donations” from idiots being bilked to pay for it. How is excessive use of resources a greendoer life style? Also, a lot of these activities are simply stupid and don’t help, other than to make the people “playing” feel better about themselves. What a stupid idea.

We totally appreciate your opinion. That’s why Project 7 puts these things out there. So, since you feel this isn’t the best way to spread the eco-word what would you do to reach the masses. Social games are a great way to educate, but your point is taken if the ideas aren’t worth while. Let’s hear some more.
