Finalist Profile #9 – AMERICAN FORESTS

Today we will be profiling the second of our SAVE finalists: AMERICAN FORESTS What will they do with the $15,000? AMERICAN FORESTS will Plant 15,000 New Trees! Since 1875 AMERICAN FORESTS has been working to create a healthier world. By planting trees we clean our air, purify our drinking water, provide homes for wildlife, & remove CO2 from our atmosphere. What do they do? AMERICAN FORESTS has planted more than 25 million trees worldwide to help repair our environment. The trees we plant are native to the area being restored and have been raised in nurseries. When we plant a tree, we plant the right one in the right place and for the right reasons. We are a world leader in planting trees for environmental restoration, a pioneer in the science and practice of urban forestry, a primary communicator of the benefits of trees and forests, and the nation’s oldest nonprofit citizens’ conservation organization. Our work encompasses planting trees (we plant one tree for every $1 donated to us), calculating the value of urban forests, fostering environmental education, and improving public policy for trees at the national level. We have a goal of 100 million trees planted by 2020. To learn more or to cast your vote, click here.
