According to the NGO Plan International, sending more girls to school may help poor countries get out of economic crisis faster. In fact, just a one percent rise in the number of girls attending secondary school boosts a country's annual per capita income growth by .3 percent.

We go in the hopes that our cause-related focus will help us stand out amongst the 1,200 exhibitors. We go in the hopes that a good number of the 22,000 attendees will take our message of change to the masses. We go because, well, it's Vegas Baby!
From October 20th to the 23rd, We will attend the NACS Show in Las Vegas. NACS is one of the premier convenience store industry shows in the world. And, with one out of every $23 spent in the United States being in convenience stores, imagine all the good Project 7 could do if 7-11 decided to carry our bio-bottled water or gum.
We wish the Project 7 tradeshow team good luck - not the usual good luck people wish those traveling to Lost Wages, but the kind of luck you wish someone going to an unknown country.
Stay tuned for more action from the Strip and may be even one of our famous tradeshow videos.
A few months ago we were fortunate enough to volunteer our time at Mosaic House, a Dallas community home for victims of human trafficking. As we looked into the faces of the women and children the issue seemed very real. However, the magnitude of the problem unfathomable. Today, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) released a press release about human trafficking in Europe, reinforcing that this is a problem faced by the world.
The release showcases the latest UNODC's Global Report on Trafficking in Persons statistics. These frightening statistics prove how serious and under-detected a problem human trafficking in Europe is
• 1 in 100,000 people guilty of human trafficking are convicted
• Only 9,000 victims were reported, around 30 times less than expected
• Most of the victims are transported from Southeast Asia to Europe to be sexually exploited
• 10% are children
• Male victims are forced into labor like construction and agriculture
On a positive note, the report shows that over the past six years the UN Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons, Especially Women and Children came into force in December 2003, most European countries have criminalized human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation and forced labor.

A real treat is knowing you are doing something good for someone else. This Halloween, UNICEF is asking you to do just that with their Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF drive.
It's easy to do:
1. Get a box (you can order a UNICEF specific box or download a canister wrapper as well)
2. When you take your kids out to trick-or-treat, ask everyone to help you raise money for kids around the world. If you aren't going out but rather having a Halloween party, ask for donations at the door.
3. Send the money into UNICEF.
This idea works for any of your favorite non-profits that accept donations. Feel passionately about something? Ask people to support you in this by giving a little.
And, this Halloween season you can tell them this is no trick, only a real treat.
We would like to welcome another new member to our team! Ashley Upham has just come on board as our Director of Non-Profit and Volunteer Relations. Ashley’s professional background is varied and as diverse as her taste in food. Dabbling in Public Affairs in Austin and D.C., serving as a dive master which lead to travels through Southeast Asia, and heading up part of Pizza Hut’s World Hunger Relief Program, Ashley did it all. But, at the heart of everything that she has done is her passion to help those in need. When the opportunity to combine her professional skills in marketing and communications and her love for non-profit work came along, Ashley couldn’t pass up the chance.
“I couldn’t believe someone would actually pay me to do what I love! I have a huge heart for people of all cultures. I am incredibly blessed, and when don't have to worry about meeting our own basic needs – that is when we must help others meet theirs.”
Her primary responsibilities will be fostering Project 7’s relationships within the non-profit community and promoting Project 7 days throughout the nation and eventually the world. With Ashley’s loving spirit and connection to the non-profit community we are sure she will be successful in helping to carry out Project 7’s goal of providing funding to worthwhile organizations and ultimately fulfilling our promise to our consumers to “Change the Score.” We are so excited to welcome her to the Project 7 team.
