What happened to the water?

I sat down to read my latest GOOD Magazine last night and discovered an absolutely amazing article. It didn't tell me anything I didn't already know, it just put it into perspective and gave me some new ideas. Two Words - Water Consumption. It is out of control in this country. But, the good news is it is easy to remedy. The following are simple easy steps to that alter your water consumption drastically... and we won't even leave the bathroom. 1. Ditch the tub -  for all of you bathtub lovers (and yes, I'm guilty) stop it! Shun the tub unless absolutely necessary. The average bath holds up to 60 gallons of water and uses up half a day's total allotted water use for the day. 2. Navy Showers - This one is genius. Step into the shower and get wet, turn of the shower, lather up, turn shower back on and rinse. You can be done in three minutes and save up to 50 gallons of water over a regular 10 minute shower. 3. Bend the rod on your toilet float. Again, genius. The black toilet float is what determines the appropriate level of water in the back of your toilet. By bending the arm on your float down you lower the water level. Be gentle though, you could snap the float arm if you aren't. This small effort can actually save up to 18 gallons of water per person, per day! 4. The Toilet, biggest water suck. I'm not going to give you all the gory details, but follow this basic rule of thumb and  you could save more than 18 gallons of water a day. Don't flush unless you have to. So, we want to hear from you. What do you do to save water at home? Post a comment and please keep it PG rated!
