so the first 7 people to post a story of their own good samaritan experience get a free P7 tee… 5 recycled plastic bottles in every shirt as well as 50% organic cotton all made here in the good ol’ USofA… it can be a story of how someone was a good samaritan to you as well.
So there is this couple that stands on the corner of an intersection of s.side in pgh. they hold a sign that says they are trying to get back home. Everyday they are there. I started packing an extra bag with food and $$ in it. I give it to them everyday…
Lauren,
That is an amazing story. The world needs more people like you. Thank you for sharing your beautiful good works. Hopefully it will inspire others at it has inspired us.
so while i am unemployed, and looking for a new job, i am using my extensive amount of free time volunteering with a business that is doing something a little similar to what you are doing – focusing on investing in people and doing good, rather than an economic bottom line. They build relationships with coffee farmers based on mutual dignity and transparent trade relationships, paying them above fair trade for their products. i’m learning new things, and they are getting some much-needed services in the process. i’ll bet there are some other unemployed people out there that could be involved in something mutually beneficial, too…
Today I accomplished two good deeds for the effort it took to do one. I subscribed to GOOD Magazine. GOOD is a collaboration of individuals, businesses, and nonprofits pushing the world forward. Since 2006 they’ve been making a magazine, videos, and events for people who care. AND, my entire subscription fee was then gifted to me to given back to me in the form of a gift card to be used on globalgiving.com. Globalgiving “connects donors with community-based projects that need support.” I chose to send my $50 subscription to Playpumps International. PlayPumps International’s mission is help improve the lives of children and their families by providing easy access to clean drinking water, enhancing public health, and offering play equipment to millions across Africa. So, to sum it up, I will now receive a beautiful magazine that supports people and companies that do good AND the knowledge that I just helped a kid in Africa get good drinking water! It is a GOOD day!
I bought school supplies and clothes for a child at a local homeless shelter. My son was able to participate with me. I love this Pass It On card!
The first Wednesday of every month, a bunch of co-workers and myself drive up to Baltimore and serve breakfast to the families and children staying at the Ronald McDonald House. It’s such a good experience and I know the families really enjoy a home cooked breakfast and good conversation to keep their minds off why they’re staying there. Wonderful organization!!
I am always glad to help and elderly person reach or read something in the store. Sometimes they just want someone to chat with for a few minutes, and a grateful there are people out there who still respect them and are willing to spend a minute with them and help.
there was this kid at School. He was sitting on the floor eating Lunch, I went over with a Friend of Mine and asked him if he wanted to come sit with me and my friends. but he didnt want to, it still felt really good to ask Him if he wanted to.
What do you do when you reach the end of the card?
